The Independent Democratic Coalition (IDC) was formed in Illinois after the 1968 Democratic Convention. Its leaders had been active in the McCarthy, Kennedy, and McGovern campaigns prior to and during the convention. IDC was later affiliated with the national New Democratic Coalition.
